This will help remove excess starch and keep the rice from becoming sticky.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a medium pot, add the rice, water and salt. Mix well and bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When the water is bubbling, reduce the heat to a minimum and cover the pan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let the rice cook for 18-20 minutes, without uncovering the pan. After that time, remove the pan from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the pan and add the butter or vegetable oil.
